Baseball Memory

Created by tomario 12 years ago
Norm loved baseball, and the Yankees in particular. But he also loved the Oakland Athletics, so when they got together to play it was a match made in heaven. I had the good fortune to attend an A's / Yankees game with Norm in Oakland on August 12, 2001 - Norm was what? A spry 80 years young then? The A's won a dramatic game in the bottom of the 9th on Jason Giambi's two-run walk-off shot, his 29th. Norm celebrated that game as not one of, but the very best game he had ever witnessed. He talked about that game for years afterwards! I also got a taste of his idiosyncratic proclivity of talking to not one, but everyONE we encountered on BART and in our seat section! EVERYone! What a great memory to be able to share with his family! Son-in-law Tom McGuire (husband of Mary Corbin)
