Hi Dad, On the day you passed, I set up an altar under the picture of you as a boy with your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather - the picture we call "the 4 generations". On this altar I placed some of your favorite things to help you along on your journey home. Under a bouquet of roses, sits a crossword puzzle and pencil, a tee and golfball, a John Grisham novel, one of Tom's writings that you always loved reading, the sports page for that day, a Tony Bennett cd, and a collection of Gershwin tunes. And in case you get hungry on your way: some chocolate and tangerines, almonds, and some popcorn. To light your way, a candle lit for 3 days, a peace crane from Ora sits nearby, and a card from the church you used to go to when you lived in Berkeley.
